At RMHC we know a lot about love. Compassion, comfort, and care are inherent in the mission of the Charity. We’ve got 315 ‘Houses that Love Built’ – Ronald McDonald Houses that is; 48 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles, delivering cost-effective, compassionate care to children in vulnerable communities across the world. And 30,000 staff members and volunteers providing strength, hope and love to children and families every day.
Team RMHC is committed to two kinds of love though – love of Ronald McDonald House Charities and love of running.
‘Wait,’ you’re saying. ‘Love. LOVE! That is a really strong word. Love the Charity, but running – I’m only at the ‘like’ phase.’
But to run a Marathon, it takes love of the sport. But how do you get to the point?

First, remember that running loves you. And when you give it an hour, you tend to feel all warm (okay, sweaty) and fuzzy inside – like you just did something big.

Second, love running because in essence it’s free. Yes, free. You don’t need a gym membership, exercise machines, or expensive equipment to do it. All you need is the motivation to lace up, get outside, and go.
Third, love running because it gives you access to a really cool clique. Not everyone can talk about the 5, 6, soon enough 10 miles that you’ve pounded out during a weekend. Love the runner bond and the conversations that come from the sights, sounds, and accomplishments you’ve experienced along your route.
Fourth, love running because you doing it, is amazing. As you run think to yourself, ‘wow, I’m actually doing this. I’m moving, leaping, bounding, seeing the world at a pace where I can actually experience it.’
Finally, look in the mirror before and after a run, and love the reflection. Love all the reasons why you are doing this – for your heart, for your health, for that little voice inside you that told you, you could, and for the children and families benefitting from your fundraising efforts.
Have a great weekend!
